How current the data is, and how to tell

The National Levee Database is updated when submitting bodies provide new information, which happens irregularly and without a published schedule. There is no change feed, so the only honest way to present the data is to state when it was last read.

What that means when you are reading a page

• The refresh date at the foot of each page is the age of what you are looking at, not the age of the underlying survey.
• An inspection rating carries its own, usually older, date.
• FEMA flood mapping changes continuously through Letters of Map Change, so any flood zone question needs a current check rather than a cached answer.
